Graduate Diploma in Education Studies Schedule

Section 1 - Faculty of Education and Arts

Transfer of Students

(1) The Graduate Diploma in Education Studies is the exit award for students enrolled in one of the following degree programs:

  1. Master of Teaching (Primary)
  2. Master of Teaching (Secondary)

(2) Students enrolled in one of the degree programs listed in Clause 1 who have satisfied the requirements for the Graduate Diploma of Education Studies may be permitted to transfer to the exit degree Graduate Diploma in Education Studies. Students wishing to transfer shall apply in writing to the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Faculty of Education and Arts, for approval.

Section 2 - Qualification for Graduate Diploma in Education Studies

(3) The Graduate Diploma in Education Studies is not an externally accredited program, students will not be qualified to teach.

(4) To qualify for the award Graduate Diploma in Education Studies a student shall be enrolled in one of the degree programs listed in Clause 1 and pass a program of study approved by the Program and Course Approval Committee on behalf of Academic Senate totalling a minimum of 80 units.

Section 3 - Grading of Degree

(5) The Graduate Diploma in Education Studies will be conferred as an ordinary degree.

Section 4 - Re-Admission and/or Re-Enrolment into Original Program

(6) Students awarded the Graduate Diploma in Education Studies will not be permitted to then re-enrol in their original program of study.

(7) Students awarded the Graduate Diploma in Education Studies will not be permitted to enrol in an initial teacher education program at the University of Newcastle.

Section 5 - Right of Appeal

(8) Students may appeal any determination made under Clause 6 to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) within 10 working days of being advised of the outcome of their application.
