Section 1 - Introduction

Section 2 - Program Structures

(6) For individual program requirements, refer to the program handbook, maintained by the Academic Registrar.

(7) Within postgraduate coursework programs the following restrictions apply:

  1. undergraduate courses at 2000, 3000 or 4000 level can be directly used in a postgraduate program with their existing codes provided they do not exceed 25% of the award;
  2. 4000 level courses offered within separate Honours programs may be used within Masters programs, where appropriate, and are not subject to Clause 7 (a);
  3. no 1000 level undergraduate courses may be used;
  4. undergraduate courses will not usually be core/compulsory courses in a postgraduate program;
  5. undergraduate courses may be re-badged as postgraduate courses with different course codes and offered conjointly to both undergraduate and postgraduate students. Where postgraduate and undergraduate students study the same course but under different course codes, the following will apply:
    1. undergraduate and postgraduate students may attend the same lectures;
    2. postgraduate students must attend separate tutorials or workshops or laboratories - to allow more in-depth analysis or treatment of the course content;
    3. postgraduate students will be expected to access additional extension material (at least 20% of the postgraduate course should be different from that in the undergraduate course); and
    4. postgraduate students will complete different and more challenging assessment tasks.

(8) A nested series of awards means a linked series of programs within the same field of study, which progress from a lower to a higher qualification e.g. from a graduate certificate, to a graduate diploma, to a masters, or to a professional doctorate. All graduates having been enrolled and completed a program that leads to an award, will be issued a testamur.
