Bachelor of Psychology and Bachelor of Psychological Science Schedule

This schedule, effective from 1 January 2012, and applies to students enrolled in the pre-2015 Bachelor of Psychology and Bachelor of Psychological Science. Section 1 - Bachelor of Psychology

Qualification for the Award

(1) To qualify for award of the Bachelor of Psychology, a student will satisfactorily complete a program of study, approved by the Program and Course Approval Committee which complies with Bachelor Honours Degree (320) Awards and Programs Schedule.

(2) The Bachelor of Psychology program is a four year program, however, only students deemed eligible under Clauses 5 to 8 will be permitted to enrol in the final year of the program.

(3) Students undertaking the Bachelor of Psychology who have satisfied the requirements for the Bachelor of Psychological Science may be permitted to transfer to the Bachelor of Psychological Science.

Grading of the Award

(4) The grading of the award of the Bachelor of Psychology will be as listed in Clause 17 of the Bachelor Honours Policy.

Eligibility for Entry to the Final (Fourth) Year

(5) Admission to the final year of the program is determined solely by academic merit and is competitive.

(6) To be eligible to apply for admission into the final year of the Bachelor of Psychology, students must achieve the following minimum requirements:

  1. Completed all 1000, 2000 and 3000 level courses;
  2. Have attained a GPA of 5.0 or more over all 2000 and 3000 level PSYC coded courses and STAT2000.

(7) In the event that the number of applications for admission to the final year of the Bachelor of Psychology exceeds the number of available places, the Faculty Pro Vice-Chancellor, on the recommendation of the Head, School of Psychology, will determine which students will be permitted to enrol.

(8) Students who do not meet the minimum requirement for admission to the final year of the Bachelor of Psychology will not proceed to the final year but will graduate with a Bachelor of Psychological Science, provided they have qualified for admission to this award (refer to Clauses 9 to 12), unless the Pro Vice-Chancellor, on the recommendation of the Head, School of Psychology, determines otherwise.

Section 2 - Bachelor of Psychological Science

Qualification for the Award

(9) The Bachelor of Psychological Science is an exit award for students enrolled in the Bachelor of Psychology who do not proceed to the final year of the Bachelor of Psychology.

(10) To qualify for award of the Bachelor of Psychological Science, a student will satisfactorily complete a program of study, approved by the Program and Course Approval Committee which complies with the Bachelor Degree (240) - Awards and Programs Schedule.

(11) Students wishing to transfer from the Bachelor of Psychology to the Bachelor of Psychological Science must apply in writing to the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Faculty of Science and Information Technology, for approval.

(12) Students awarded the Bachelor of Psychological Science will not be permitted to then re-enrol in the Bachelor of Psychology.

Grading of the Award

(13) The grading of the award of the Bachelor of Psychological Science will be as listed in the Bachelor Degree (240) - Awards and Programs Schedule .

Section 3 - Right of Appeal

(14) Students may appeal any determination made under Clauses 5 to 8 to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) and Vice President within 10 working days of being advised of the outcome of their application.
