This is the first version of this document to be published in the new UON Policy Library. For all intents and purposes, this version is reflective of the version that was approved, published and in effect at the time the new Policy Library was launched. In migrating the document to the new Policy Library it was subjected to reformatting, including the application of a new numbering system.


The following information details the history of changes to the document prior to its publication in the new UON Policy Library:


25/5/16 - Vice-Chancellor - The following guidelines have been combined and rationalised to create the Appointment and Selection of Academic, Teaching and Professional Staff Procedure: - Casual Short-term Appointments Guideline 000931 - Continuing, Contingent and Fixed-term Guideline 000930 - Eligibility List Guideline 000932 - Staff Selection Committee Guideline 000928 Minimum selection processes have been included which articulate the minimum requirement for appointment at each of the HEW and academic levels. Recruitment for roles at HEW 8 and above for professional staff, and at Level C and above for academic staff, (where the role is expected to be of twelve months duration or longer, including any anticipated extensions) will be advertised to both internal and external candidates, unless otherwise approved. The minimum selection committee composition has been rationalised for Level D and E committees. A Professor from another Faculty/School to where the recruitment is occurring is required on selection committees for all Level B and C positions.
