Summary of Changes from Previous Version

13 December 2021:  Amendment to clauses 12 and 13 to reflect non-HREC ethical approval mechanisms as approved by Council 10 December, 2021 (C21:130).

16 July 2020: Definition of “course” updated. Administrative amendment.

2 July 2020: UON amended to the University throughout.  Approved by Director Assurance Services.

The amendments allow UON to recognise the approval of a project by an external HREC where that HREC is currently 'registered' with the NHMRC. UON HREC retains the discretion to review an application where NSW jurisdiction / privacy requirements need to be met, the proposed research involves UON staff or students as participants, or where the approval is not aligned with UON requirements. UON researchers obtaining ethical approval from an external HREC are required to register the approval with UON.
