Summary of Changes from Previous Version

7 October 2022: Reference to Staff-Student Interaction Guidelines deleted from clause 12. Approved as administrative amendment, University Secretary.


24 January 2022:  Glossary definition of foreign interference added.  Clause 7e removed. Approved as administrative amendment by University Secretary.


22 March 2021:  Definition of “University business” updated. Approved as administrative amendment by University Secretary.


17 November 2020:  Administrative amendments to Clause 4 and 16, and addition of Clause 5 and Clause 37. Definition of “researcher” added. Approved by University Secretary.


A full review of the policy was undertaken with resulted in new definitions, introduction of requirement of all staff to avoid unnecessary conflicts of interest; a broadening of the groups of identified staff who are required to make annual disclosure of personal interests; inclusion of requirements for disclosure of relevant interests by Researchers; separation of policy from procedure and the introduction of a new Conflict of Interest Procedure; and removal of content related to Key Management Personnel declarations.
